Susan Payne

Susan has always felt a calling to work with children. In high school, she volunteered at a local hospital often working on the Children’s ward.  She entered college in a Biology/Pre-Med program to ultimately become a Pediatrician but early senior year had a change of heart about a career in the medical field.  After earning her B.A. in Biology from Gettysburg College in 1991 Susan worked in the IT industry as a Technology Analyst.

In 2000 she freelanced as a technology writer for Edgell Communications Publications.  In 2002 she decided to return to her calling, working with children.  She completed her Master of Arts in Teaching at Sacred Heart University in 2006 while raising 2 young daughters, Sarah and Katie.

Susan has worked with children in an educational capacity since 1999.  First as a volunteer at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Wilton, Connecticut teaching Sunday school and volunteering in the nursery.  Then later teaching Pre-K at a Methodist Preschool in Chesterfield, Virginia.  Susan also enjoyed leading a girl scout troop for 5 years and has been a volunteer with St. Paul’s EYC since the winter of 2015.  She serves on St. Paul’s Youth Council and works with the Pre-K Sunday School program.

She is very excited to be joining St. Paul’s as the Director of Children’s Ministry.  She looks forward to bringing her energy and enthusiasm for teaching children to the families of St. Paul’s.
